Project Overview
LIFE22-CCM-SE-LIFE SUNIFIX
LIFE SUNIFIX project, a groundbreaking initiative funded by the European Union. The primary goal of the LIFE SUNIFIX project is to upscale and showcase the revolutionary NitroCapt’s paradigm-shifting, climate-neutral production process. This initiative aims to provide the European industry with access to efficient, innovative green technology, offering the most competitive nitrogen fertilizers in substantial quantities. Today’s mineral nitrogen fertilizer production, particularly the Haber Bosch process, represents an €80 billion market and contributes to more and than 2% of global fossil-based greenhouse gas emissions. This process stands as a significant source of greenhouse gas emissions within agriculture and food production.
The SUNIFIX® Solution
SUNIFIX® (Sustainable Nitrogen Fixation) introduces a patented climate-neutral process for nitrogen fixation. This process utilizes air, water, and electricity as the sole inputs. The innovative approach combines a state-of-the-art energy-efficient reactor based on plasma technology, cutting-edge electromagnetic energy coupling, and advanced turbine technology.
Key Advantages
Energy Efficiency: The SUNIFIX process boasts competitive energy consumption.
Renewable Energy Compatibility: It can operate intermittently, powered directly by renewable electricity, making it adaptable even for off-grid production units.
Local Self-Sufficiency: By creating local self-sufficiency in affordable nitrogen fertilizers, irrespective of energy price fluctuations, the project aims to incentivize local companies to adopt this eco-friendly technology.
The LIFE SUNIFIX Project in Action
The LIFE SUNIFIX project plans to establish a pilot facility that will validate production components and systems at an industrially relevant scale (5% of full scale). The facility will operate under full operating conditions at a competitive production cost. NitroCapt, in collaboration with three European associated partners from Sweden, Norway, and Luxembourg, will demonstrate the technology through this pilot facility.
The pilot approach is a critical step in replicating and scaling the SUNIFIX technology to other sites in Europe and globally. This strategic move ensures the widespread adoption of this innovative, sustainable solution.
Commitment to Environmental Impact
As part of LIFE SUNIFIX project, we strongly believe that this smart, resource- and energy-efficient fertilizer solution can significantly contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions in the agriculture sector. By introducing this attractive and forward-thinking technology to the European and global market, we aim to make a lasting impact on environmental sustainability.
