We’re honored that NitroCapt has been shortlisted as one of six global finalists for the The Food Planet Prize, the world’s largest environmental award, with a prize worth $2M.
NitroCapt was founded to help solve one of the most pressing challenges of our time: how to feed a growing population without harming the planet. Nitrogen fertilizer is responsible for over 2.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions — yet it enables nearly half of the world’s food production.
Our technology reimagines nitrogen fertilizer production: resilient, local, and powered by clean electricity — no fossil fuels, no imported feedstocks.
This recognition reflects both the dedication of our team and the rising urgency to innovate in this space. Our mission is to make sustainable, low-carbon fertilizer available at scale — and drive meaningful impact on food security and climate.
Thank you to the Curt Bergfors Foundation and The Food Planet Prize for supporting this mission. We look forward to the next steps and welcome new partnerships as we move toward commercial scale.
